Congratulations to the 8 Sea to Snow trainees now enrolled for the Sea to Snow training camp on 10 August: Cailem Campbell (Bega High), Coen Anderson (Bega High), David Fantham (Saphire Coast Anglican College), Sophie Woodford (Carroll College), Troy Oates (Trafalger High), Elliot De Frenza (Narooma High), Michaeli Trenbath (Canterbury Girls High), Ruby de Rover (Carroll College), Max Turner (Sunshine Coast Grammar) and Ruby Hodder (Bega High).
Sea to Snow is about persistence, organisation and leadership. These qualities are valuable for apprenticeship, scholarship and job applications and Year 10 is the best time for students to extend themselves before HSC.
Sea to Snow Ball
This year the ball starts 2 days after The Sea to Snow Journey finishes. Sunday 2 October at Cobargo School of Arts Hall. Op shop formal, no alcohol, family friendly with great bands to get you up dancing. Our international uni student volunteers will be helping The Crossing to run the night.
Landcare Adventures for Year 6/7 and Year 8/9 – October and November programs

Landcare Wild Adventure
Year 8 and 9 students step up ‘into the wild’ Landcare Adventure from Friday evening until early afternoon Sunday. A journey over the coastal mountains to the sea, with Landcare and habitat survey along the journey. Young participants camp out in Biamanga National Park on their first night. The Landcare Wild Adventure happens in late October @thecrossingland
For year 6 and 7’s a fun weekend Landcare Adventure happens in early November. This weekend journey starts on a Friday night with a mountain bike from Bermagui to The Crossing and ends in the early afternoon on Sunday after a canoe journey back to Bermagui. Young participants stay in a train carraige bunkhouse while at the camp.
Windbreak Plantation Design Workshop
For adults a plantation design workshop with practical planting is happening on 9 September. Plantation design for wind and fire hazard reduction while creating habitat connection for threatened species. With Chris Post, Landcare and Bush Connect officer at the Far South Coast Landcare Association. Design support from John Champagne, Permaculture Designer and President of South Coast Producers. Natural Beekeeping Course
Adrian Iodice is also @thecrossingland in the first weekend of November for his annual Natural Beekeeping course. Adrian has become a regular on River Cottage Australia and was recently featured in Pip and Earth Garden magazine. He’s here at the end of Spring after buzzing to courses all over Australia and overseas.
