Advanced Wilderness First Aid February

You may be more than one hour from help yet

Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA)

Wilderness First Aid consultants started running courses for adventure leadership almost 30 years ago.  They have a strong reputation in the outdoor education field and are well known for running Wilderness First Aid training for the widely respected Mittagundi and Wollangarra Outdoor Education Centres in Victoria.  They service clients all over Australia and internationals as well.  The Crossing is really pleased to be able to host an Advanced Wilderness First Aid course at our camp for the first time in February 2016.

The Crossing is a not for profit environment education centre for ‘journeys in sustainability’.  We have two school-based trainees who will also be doing this course with our Project Director.  We hope you can join us with Wilderness First Aid Consultants for 4 great days.

This course is for remote areas (where remote means that you can expect help to take more than an hour to reach you).  A course for teachers who supervise hikes, for outdoor instructors or young volunteers taking on leadership roles.  You will learn a lot in a short time and feel more confident about what to do when an emergency arises and you find yourself needing to improvise.

The course includes Senior First Aid, CPR and Remote First Aid qualifications over 4 days. This is a minimum qualification for being more than 1 hour from help.

Run by Pat Guinane from Wilderness First Aid Consultants at The Crossing

This course is focused on practical hands-on scenarios. $540 for local daytrippers and $680 for stay overs (you can BYO tent or stay in the bunkhouse).  BYO lunch and other day snacks in a daypack to be mobile for all the scenarios.  3 Breakfasts and 3 dinners are provided for overnight stayers.

  • 4 days from Sunday 7 to Wednesday 10 Feb.
